Planehead Filefish

This species moves in the water and it is very long and flat like a nail file. What is noteable about these fish is their interesting way of moving. The one shown here is actually swimming upside down. This photo was taken on 7/15/99 by member Don Boose at the Blackwater Bridge Rubble Site 15-G.

This photo gives a better close-up of the species' features. Photograph(s) used by permission of ReefNet Software from their excellent Fishes of the Caribbean and Adjacent Waters fish ID CD-ROM. Photo credit: ŠKeith Hamlin.
